Shalane Flanagan Wins Lisbon Half Marathon, Zersenay Tadese Three Peats

American Olympic Marathon Trials Champion Shalane Flanagan got a big international win as she won the Lisbon Half Marathon today in Portugal in 68:51. Zesenay Tadese threepeated on the men's side in 59:34 but was over a minute short of his world record 58:23 despite going through 10k near record pace (27:44, 27:40 is the pace needed).

The unheralded Diana Chepkemoi who had never broken 1:10 for the half marathon was second to Flanagan as one of the pre race favorites Mergia Aselefech dropped out.
