Dick Patrick Let Go By USA Today by: LetsRun.com LetsRun.com has learned some disappointing news. On Tuesday,
famed track and field writer Dick Patrick was let go by USA Today
after nearly 23.5 years of covering the sport for them. Thursday was his last
day on the job. The Washington Post (Amy Shipley) also does a good job of covering the Olympic movement. Editor's Addition: Gary Hill of Track and Field News wrote saying, "John Crumpacker of the San Francisco Chronicle is worthy of note as one of the few remaining newspaper guys who keeps the torch aloft for track (Indeed, back in 2000, I think it was, he gave up his prize gig as the 49er beat writer so he could go to Sydney on his own nickel)." We also should mention that Steve Nearman of the Washington Times is a great track writer as well.
