20th Mayor’s Cup Cross Country and Youth Races

What: The Boston Athletic Association and adidas present the Mayor’s Cup Cross Country Races.  Races are directed by USA Track & Field – New England, in cooperation with Boston Parks & Recreation Department and Boston Centers for Youth and Families. The event, which consists of youth races, the open Franklin Park 5k, Women’s Championship 5k and Men’s Championship 8k, gives Boston runners, especially road racers, perhaps their single cross country racing opportunity of the year.  This year marks the 20th year of the annual Mayor’s Cup Cross Country Races.

When:

·         October 25, 2009

·         10:00 a.m.: Girls and Boys 1.1-mile race (10 and under)

·         10:15am: Girls and Boys 1.1-mile race (age 11-12)

·         10:30am: Girls and Boys 1.1-mile race (age 13-14)

·         10:50am: Franklin Park 5K (Open, female and male)

·         11:30am: Women's Championship 5K

·         Noon: Men's Championship 8K

Where:  

·         Franklin Park, Boston  (Playstead Field near White Stadium)

·         Limited parking is available at two lots along Jewish War Veterans Drive or on Jewish War Veterans Drive itself

Who:

·         Sponsored by the Boston Athletic Association and adidas

·         Directed by Boston Centers for Youth and Families Recreation and USA Track & Field New England

Photo Opportunity:

·         Youth race participants approaching the finish line of their 1.1 mile race

·         Youth race participants receiving awards

·         Cross Country running with fall foliage as the backdrop
