Although the spring season of the World Marathon Majors has not yet
concluded, one of the Majors' fall races, the Bank of American Chicago
Marathon, has already sold out at 45,000 entries, organizers announced
today.
"It is great to see the continued commitment from runners across the
globe who registered for this race more than six months in advance,"
said Bank of America Illinois Market President Tim Maloney through a
prepared statement. "We're pleased to match their enthusiasm with our
continued commitment to host the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in
world-class fashion."
In 2008, the Bank of America Chicago Marathon was the second largest
marathon in the United States with 31,401 finishers. The ING New York
City Marathon was the largest with 38,096 finishers.
