Mottram, Cragg set for 2007 Reebok Boston Indoor Games Next Weekend
by: Reebok Boston Games

BOSTON (Jan. 18) – It will be Craig v. Cragg at 3000 meters in the Reebok Boston Indoor Games on Jan. 27 when Craig Mottram, the 2005 World Cross Country bronze medalist, faces off against Alistair Cragg, the 2005 European Indoor Champion at 3000 meters, organizers announced today.

Both athletes have a history here. Mottram, the first non-African to win a medal at 5000 meters in a major championship since 1987, is also a two-time World Cup titleholder at 3000m, where in 2006 he upset Kenenisa Bekele for the victory. Last year in Boston, the gregarious Aussie won at 2 Miles over a deep field that included Cragg, who finished third less than a second behind. Two years ago at this meet, Cragg – Ireland’s national record-holder – won at 3000 meters when he, too, surprised Bekele.

Joining them in the 3000-meter field will be American Jorge Torres, the 2006 USA Champion at 10,000 meters.

In the women’s 60 meters, Southeast Raleigh (NC) High School senior Gabby Mayo will go up against a field that includes 2006 Commonwealth Games gold medalist Sheri-Ann Brooks and Angela Daigle-Bowen, the 2005 USA Indoor 60-meter champion and 4x100-meter World Championships gold medalist. Mayo, the USA Track & Field Youth Athlete of the Year and Track & Field News Female High School Athlete of the Year, ran the two best high school 100-meter times in the country last year (11.14 and 11.16) and anchored the USA junior women's4x100-meter relay to a World Junior Record.

The 12th-annual Reebok Boston Indoor Games, the first stop in USA Track & Field’s Visa Championship Series, will be held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center at Roxbury  Community College, 1350 Tremont St., beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 27. Information and tickets, at $60, $40 and $20, are now available on-line at www.BostonIndoorGames.comor by calling 1-877-TIX-TRAC. The Visa Championship Series returns to the Reggie Lewis Center Feb. 24-25
for the AT&T USA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
