Alan Culpepper and Jorge Torres Headline New USA Track and Field Club in Boulder, CO. Press Release October 4, 2007
A new, elite training club has been formed in Boulder, Colorado. Members of the club, named Tempo Sports, include 2000 and 2004 Olympian Alan Culpepper and 2006 USA 10,000 meter champion, Jorge Torres. The athletes are coached by Steve Jones, former world record holder in the marathon.
Culpepper and Pete Julian, director of the 2007 USA Cross Country Championships in Boulder, formed Tempo Sports in an effort to provide consolidated training support for world-class runners. "It's time we pool our resources and energy and begin to work together towards a common goal of making Olympic teams and winning medals," said Julian.
The mission of Tempo Sports is to facilitate the needs of world class runners living in Boulder through coaching, medical and training support.
Culpepper will be the first Tempo Sports athlete to begin his Olympic journey when he competes in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in New York City on Nov. 3rd, 2007.
"I am certain that the formation of this elite group will not only provide the support that I need for continued success and the structure necessary to reach unmet goals, but also help younger athletes compete at a world class level," said Culpepper.
