High School Success Came With Proper Training LetsRun.com's Weldon Johnson was always a good, but not great high school runner in high school. He improved from being a good runner on the JV to one of the better runners on his varsity team by the time he was a junior. But he was not tapping his full potential. In fact, he had never broken 5 minutes in the mile. However, his senior year things got a lot better. He ended up running 4:28 for 1600 and 9:35 for 3200m his senior year and as a result was able to walk-on at Yale University, where he quickly made the varsity, and continued to improve progressing to the point today where he is considered one of America's top professional runners. Last year he shocked many in the running community by going from a virtual unknown to a top contender for the Olympics in the 10k and marathon when he ran 28:27 for 10k. (For a bio of his high school career click here. For his overall bio click here.) How did Weldon go from being a decent runner to a great one? By running seriously over the summer and following the advice of John Kellogg. You too can do these things, if you sign up for our program. As Weldon said, "I know I wouldn't have had the drastic improvement I did my senior year and doubt I'd be running today, if I hadn't trained seriously the summer before my senior year. I always thought I took running very seriously, but its not possible to do this unless you put in the work prior to the season." "I got in an excellent summer of base training which laid the foundation for everything that was to come. I started following exactly what my coach (John Kellogg) told me to do, and began to reap the rewards. I honestly believe John is the best coach in the world, but no matter how good the coach is, if the athlete does not do the proper training over the summer the athlete will be limited in his or her success." And Weldon goes on about the benefits of summer training with LetsRun.com, "Our program is extremely beneficial. Too many high schoolers either don't train enough or train improperly over the summer. Almost worse than the runners who don't train over the summer, are the runner who train very hard and want to be the best, but train improperly. It's a shame that they don't get to reap the benefits of their hard work. Our program will prepare them for success in the fall and the future." Convinced you need Summer Training from LetsRun.com?
