There have only been six races in history in which multiple Americans have broken 2:10 (the record is four guys under 2:10, achieved at the 2012 Olympic Trials). But with seven of the top 12 finishers from the Trials entered on Sunday, we could see as many as half a dozen Americans break the barrier in Arizona.

Both fields are very deep as sthe men's side has Jake Robertson, Stanley Biwott, Stephen Sambu, Chris Derrick, Callum Hawkins, Shadrack Biwott, Lopez Lomong and more. The women are lead by 65:07 half-marathoner Caroline Kipkirui, NYC Half champ Buze Dirba, Emily Sisson and Gwen Jorgensen.

Four real high-quality American men that will battle in NY this weekend - past champ Meb Kefelzighi, Olympic sixth placer Jared Ward, the ageless Abdi Abdirahman and Shadrack Biwott, who has been top 5 in his last 2 majors.

He faces Tyler McCandless and George-Byron Alex (62:54 PB) while 2016 Canadian XC champ Sasha Gollish leads the women's race.

Other top Americans include Shadrack Biwott, Christo Landry, Neely Gracey, Stephanie Bruce, and Aliphine Tuliamuk.

A Kenyan may have won and a Japanese guy was 3rd, but Galen Rupp led the American invasion.

With only four men in the field who have broken 2:10 in the last three years, it's not totally crazy to think an American could win NYC on Sunday, particularly since Dathan Ritzenhein has had a great buildup.
