Jebet won Olympic gold, crushed the world record and put together the greatest season ever by a women's steepler. Coburn has dominated the U.S. scene for years and took it one step further in 2016 by winning her first Olympic medal.

2016 Olympic Women's Steeple Preview: Can Emma Coburn Earn the U.S.'s First Steeple Medal? Will The World Record Fall?

Kenyan-born Ruth Jebet of Bahrain (8:59.97) and reigning world champ Hyvin Kiyeng of Kenya (9:00.01) almost broke the world record at Pre and sit 2-3 on the all-time world list. Coburn has the #3 time in the world this year thanks to her American record in the same race, but to get a medal, she'll have to beat either Jebet, Kiyeng or reigning Olympic champ Habiba Ghribi of Tunisia (whose 9:05.36 last year puts her #4 all-time).

Brussels Diamond League Finale: Great Women's Mile, Americans Come Up Short in 5k, Schippers Over Felix

The DL season ended with a great track meet in Brussels as there were world leaders in the women's mile, steeple, and men's 5k and Dafne Schippers beating Allyson Felix in the 200. Plus Shannon Rowbury had Jenny Simpson's number again and Ben True and Ryan Hill beat Galen Rupp again.

Zurich Full Recap: Hiwot Ayalew Wins DL Title in Women's Steeple; Seven Americans Win DL Titles

Tunisia's Habiba Ghribi beat Ayalew (2nd) and Emma Coburn (5th) in the race, but Ayalew still won the DL title and the $40,000 prize that goes with it. Americans to win DL titles included Jenny Simpson (1500), Tianna Bartoletta (LJ), Reese Hoffa (SP), Christian Taylor (TJ), Michael Tinsley (400 hurdles), LaShawn Merritt (400) and Dawn Harper-Nelson (100 hurdles).

Stockholm Recap: Adam Kszczot Grabs Big Win in 800; Hiwot Ayalew Keeps On Winning in Women's Steeple

Kszczot followed up his victory at Europeans by taking down Nijel Amos in the 800 in a negative-split 1:45 while Emma Coburn was just third in the steeple in 9:20. Allyson Felix and Queen Harrison got wins in the sprints while Nesta Carter won the 100 in 9.96. In the field events, Reese Hoffa won to extend his lead in the DL standings while France's Renaud Lavillenie's 20-meet win streak is history after he failed to clear a height on a poor night for jumping. Plus a B-heat victory for Leo Manzano.
