2011 NYC champ Firehiwot Dado and five-time World XC medalist Meselech Melkamu are also entered. In total, 12 women in the field have broken 2:24 and 22 have broken 2:28.

New York Marathon Women's Preview: Mary Keitany (2nd-Fastest Marathoner Ever) Takes on 2-Time World Champ Edna Kiplagat and a Slew of Challengers

Mary Keitany (2:18:37 pb) may be a Paula Radcliffe type talent, but she'll have her hands full in NYC in her first marathon in two years. She'll be challenged by former double World Champ Edna Kiplagat, and NYC champs Jelena Prokopcuka and Firehiwot Dado, plus 2013 runner-up Buzunesh Deba. Desiree Linden leads the American field, which also includes 41-year-old Deena Kastor (shooting for 2:25) and Kara Goucher, in her first marathon since April 2013.

Patrick Terer And Firehiwot Dado Are Victorious At The 2014 Prague Marathon

Terer ran 2:08:07 to beat Evans Chebet by 10-seconds.  Cuthbert Nyasango was 3rd in a Zambabwe NR of 2:09:52. Moses Mosop had a disappointing race running 2:20:37 for 12th. 2011 NYC champ Dado dominated the women's race in 2:23:34.

Moses Mosop Faces Deep Field With Eight Sub-2:08 Men At Prague Marathon On May 11th

The field includes CR holder Eliud Kiptanui (2:05:39) and defending champ Nicholas Kipkemboi. The women are led by 2011 NYC Marathon champ Firehiwot Dado (2:23:15) and Flomena Chepchirchir (2:23:00).

Mula Seboka Gets Surprise Victory In Women's Race At 2014 Dubai Marathon In 2:25:01

(updated) This was certainly an upset as Seboka, until recently, was a journeywoman. But no longer. In the 30th marathon of her career - yes, 30th - thanks to a strong surge at 35k which broke the pack, she defeated the #2 10,000 runner in history, Meselech Melkamu, and finished off a 71:20 2nd half. 2011 NYC champ Firehiwot Dado was third.
