Tadese will face 10 other men who have gone under the one hour mark including Atsedu Tsegay (58:47) and Tsegaye Kebede. Kiplagat faces five other sub-1:08 women.

Young Kenyan Star Peres Jepchirchir Smashes Course Record At Usti nad Labem Half-Marathon To Win In 67:17; Eritrean Merhawi Kesete Wins Men's Race In 60:58

Jepchirchir dominated her race by about 3-minutes while Kesete won a close race, beating Kenya's Barselius Kipyego by only 1-second.

World Record Holder Zersenay Tadese Leads Field For Sunday's Rock 'n' Roll Lisbon Half-Marathon

Other big names in the half field are Teklemariam Medhin and Ibrahim Jeilan. The men's marathon has 7 sub-2:10 men led by 2:06-man Philip Kimutai. Defending champ Agnes Kiprop (2:23:54) leads the women's marathon. Italian Nadia Ejjafinni has the fastest PR in the women's half field with 68:27.

Geoffrey Kipsang is a name you had better remember. The 2011 World XC junior champ got his first global senior title with an impressive 59:07 win without a rabbit as he led 30,000 runners to the finish line in the first time ever that the World Half Marathon Champs were a mass participation race.  Tiny Eritrea got gold in the team competition.
