There was a ton to talk about this week as the Diamond League has returned and Shaunae Miller-Uibo’s unbeaten streak has passed the two year mark. We spend a ton of time talking about how exciting and wide-open Worlds are going to be this year with few huge mid-d or distance favorites.

The races include Erik Sowinski, Harun Abda, Heather Kampf and Alexa Efraimson.

Shannon Rowbury has the current record at 9:20.25 from 2014. Along with the clock, Simpson will also race Brenda Martinez and Alexa Efraimsom.

The men's race also has Robby Andrews, Ben Blankenship, Kyle Merber, Chris O'Hare and Josh Kerr while the women's features Alexa Efraimson, Ireland's Ciara Mageean and Canada's Nicole Sifuentes.

Simpson and Kate Grace both punched their tickets to London but the big surprise was that Shannon Rowbury did not and Sara Vaughn did.

If you like upsets, read this as we are predicting a guy who didn't even make the Olympic Trials to win the men's mile at USAs.

Distance highlights included Justyn Knight taking down Andrew Wheating and Brannon Kidder in the mile with a 3:59.54, Brie Felnagle running 4:27.27 to beat out Alexa Efraimson (4:30.49), a 2:02.29 win for Kate Grace in the 800 over Justine Fredronic, Colby Gilbert getting a 7:45.71 win in the 3000, and Andrea Seccafien winning the 3000 in 9:11.39 over Christina Aragon (9:12.58).  

As always, the fields are stacked with American talent with Murphy up against Robby Andrews, Eric Jenkins, Leo Manzano, Drew Hunter while the women's race includes Kate Grace, Alexa Efraimson, Brenda Martinez, and high schooler Kate Murphy.

Asafa Powell won the 200m in 20.45, Elain Thompson had a super quick 10.71 wind aided 100m, Shaunae Miller a wind aided 22.14 200m, and Alexa Efraimson dominated the 1500m in a meet record of 4:08.37.  

Rowbury and Martinez are the favorites for the spots on Team USA, but there are plenty of familiar names in this one including Katie Mackey, Heather Kampf, Treniere Moser, Morgan Uceny, Alexa Efraimson and the rapidly-improving Amanda Eccleston.

Both races are stacked as the men's field also has Leo Manzano, Garrett Heath and Robby Andrews. For the women, Shannon Rowbury will defend her title against Treniere Moser, Alexa Efraimson, Katie Mackey and many more.

Schneider won the 1500 in 4:07.88 while Mary Cain made big improvements on her SB with 4:09.08 in 4th. Efraimson got the 800 victory in 2:01.11. Bahrain's Abraham Rotich won the men's 800 in 1:45.81 as NCAA champion Edward Kemboi was 3rd (1:46.94).

After a summer hiatus, the Week That Was is back. We do our best to avoid talk of the Nike Oregon Project doping investigation but can't help but criticize Nike and Mo Farah's reaction to it.
