The TrackTown Summer Series championship is Thursday in New York at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island. It will be broadcast on ESPN from 9-11 pm ET. It was the first American winner since 2005 as the race moved to American-only prize money. Nelson: “It’s nice to compete against the best in the world, but it’s also nice to come to a race and know you have a chance to take home some prize money.”

The race will have its first American woman in 11-years as prize money will be for US athletes only. 2015 winner- Emily Chebet, who also won in 2010 and 2013– was given a 4-year doping ban last year.

Lagat finished 4th overall in 13:38, 1-second ahead of Hassan Mead. Defar won comfortably by 9-seconds while Jen Rhines was the first American woman in 6th (15:53).

The current mark is 63:23 by Mbarak Hussein from 2005 (Meb ran 62:29 after turning 40, but on an ineligible course). Aliphine Tiliamuk-Bolton and Adriana Nelson lead the women's field, while Deena Kastor will go for the American masters record (15:48 by Collen De Reuck) on Saturday.
