Rudisha changed things up and led the field through a pedestrian 52.71 first lap, but once a boxed-in Amos got free in the final 100, it was game over as he passed Rudisha with 30 meters to go and had time to celebrate over the final meters.

There are no global outdoor championships this year, but world-record holder Rudisha vs. world leader Amos in the Commonwealth Games is a pretty good replacement. Kenya's 1:42 man Ferguson Rotich (who beat Rudisha in Monaco), NCAA champ Brandon McBride of Canada and World Indoor bronze medallist Andrew Osagie of England are also entered.
