PITTSBURGH – An impressive field of almost 100 American distance runners are set to race at the 2018 USATF Half Marathon Championships on Sunday morning, May 6. The national title tilt will be held in conjunction with the 10th DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events.

In the men’s division, U.S. Olympian and defending USATF Running Circuit Champion Leonard Korir headlines one of the largest invited fields in recent history. Also toeing the start line will be Samuel Kosgei, who placed second at the 2017 Army 10 Miler, and Matt Llano, who finished second at the 2015 USATF Marathon Championships. Rounding out the top of the men’s field is recent addition Chris Derrick, a three-time USA Cross Country Champion.

Leading the women’s field is Aliphine Tuliamuk, two-time defending USATF Running Circuit Champion and 7-time National Champion. Challenging Tuliamuk at the front will be recent additions Gwen Jorgensen, an Olympic and World Champion triathlete recently turned pro distance runner, and Sara Hall, the 2017 USA Marathon Champion. Top athletes Lindsey Scherf, who recently broke the women’s indoor marathon world record, and Lindsay Flanagan will also compete for the national title.

The top 15 finishers in the male and female Open divisions will earn guaranteed prize money, including a record $15,000 each for the national champions.
