NCAA Indoor Individual Event and Team Predictions: Heavy Favorites in Nearly All Track Races, Tight Team Battle on Men’s Side

by LetsRun.com
March 9, 2018

It’s official, the Georgia women are heavy favorites to win the team title at Friday and Saturday’s NCAA Dvision 1 Track and Field Championships in College Station, Texas, while Texas Tech is a much more modest favorite over Florida and Georgia on the men’s side.

As part of the $200,018 LetsRun.com Running Warehouse Prediction Contest (enter by 6:30 pm eastern Friday here), we asked the LetsRun.com audience who is going to win the team titles and each track event, with the exception of the 60 hurdles and the 200s.

93.3% of our voters as of midnight Friday were picking the Georgia women to win, while Arkansas was a distant second with 3.1% of the votes.

On the men’s side things were a lot closer as Texas Tech received 43.8% of the first place votes, with Florida receiving 29.4% and the Georgia men 24.1%

Another story line from the contest is there are strong, strong favorites in nearly every running event polled in the contest.

The men’s 60m was the only track event in the contest where less than 50% of the voters picked one person to win as Andre Ewers of Florida State is a slight favorite (43.6%) over Elijah Hall of Houston (37.6%).

Only four more events had less than 75% of people picking the same person to win. They were the men’s DMR (New Mexico picked by 62.5% of voters), the women’s 800 (Sammy Watson picked by 61.3% of voters), the women’s 5000m (Karissa Schweizer picked by 64.9% of voters) and the women’s DMR (Boise State picked by 58.4% of voters).

Full voting results for all the events in the contest as of midnight Friday.
