Loxsom emailed the following statement to LetsRun.com when we asked him if he was still part of the club.

“I can give a quick statement. I am no longer with Brooks, but am still coached by Danny Mackey. I still live in Seattle and will be training there after Shanghai Diamond League through USAs. I am currently looking for a new sponsor. The issue in question is a personal matter between the team, Brooks and myself, but I can say it’s not drug related.”

Loxsom’s departure and its timing are unusual as he was the best men’s athlete on the team (assuming Nick Symmonds isn’t in great shape) and he just enjoyed a fantastic indoor season where he ran the fastest indoor 600 in world history – 1:14.91. Just this past weekend, he ran a leg on the US’s gold-medal-winning 4 x 800 relay team at the World Relays.

Update: Brooks spokesman Derek Lactaoen emailed Paul Merca, saying Loxson was dismissed from the team, “…based on the grounds that he broke team conduct rules on multiple occasions. Dismissing Cas was in the best interest of the Beasts, and was not drug or alcohol related. Cas is an outstanding athlete, and we wish him the best.”
