Justin Gatlin OUT of 200m Final After Failing to Qualify

RIO DE JANEIRO — In a surprising development Justin Gatlin went out in the semifinals of the 200m tonight and thea anticipattttted Usain Bolt-Justin Gatlin 200m final showdown will not take place.
Gatlin was in heat 3 and the top 2 would automatially advance to the final. Gatlin had the lead in his heat on the homestretch but three other runners were near him. Gatlin looked under control but then slightly let off the gas to save some energy for the final. When he did that Alonso Edward and Churandy Martina passed him and Gatlin was left in 3rd place in 20.13. The problem for Gatlin was the third and fourth place runners in heat #2 had run faster and Gatlin will not be in the final.
Afterwards Gatlin told NBC and the media in the mixed zone, he noticed his ankle bothering him.
