Sara Hall qualified for the 5000m final at the 2016 Olympic Marathon Trials by finishing 5th in her heat today (top 6 automatically qualified).

Sara enjoyed the experience. “It’s my second 5k in three years… It was fun,” she said.

Sara dropped out at the Olympic Marathon Trials and then then ran the London Marathon in 2:30 at the end of April, then qualified for the Trials with a 15:28 5k in May and then ran today.

Not only was this her second 5k in three years, it was her first 5k as a mom as she and husband Ryan adopted three Ethiopian daughters last year.

“I don’t know how many Olympic Track Trails my daughters will get to watch me in,” Hall said. Hall said her daughters have adjusted amazingly well to a new family and have been watching the Trails on TV and been “captivated by it.”

We asked Sara about her husband Ryan who has become a buff guy in his retirement from competitive running.

Sara revealed Ryan ran a sub 16 5k on the track today while pacing his daughters on some laps and will do another one on Sunday.  She said of her husband, “He can still throwdown” before recounting his 5k exploits.
