5000: Sally Kipyego Breaks 15:00, Nicole Tully Runs 15:05
16 women got the 15:20 IAAF standard but Sally Kipyego was clearly the best and the only one under 15:00. Showing you how much better the pro ranks are than college, 2014 NCAA outdoor champ Marielle Hall got a PB of 15:09.90 but that only got her sixth (former pb 15:12.79). 2014 NCAA indoor champ Abbey D’Agostino only managed a 15:42.79 in her first race on a comeback from injury.
Stanford’s Jessica Tonn got a huge pb of 15:18.85 (15:32.26 previous pb) to move to #1 on the 2015 NCAA collegiate list and to #2 on the Stanford all-time list.
The biggest surprise, however, was that Nicole Tully ran 15:05.58 in what we believe was her 5000 track debut. Tully, a 4:06 1500 runner who has run 16:06 on the roads before, ran more than a minute faster at Stanford.
HSer Alexa Efraimson was up front in heat 2 but struggled late and finished in 16:09.44 – outside of the top 10 in the HS ranks.

10,000: Susan Kuijken and Emily Sisson Impress; 14 Break 32:00 To Get IAAF Standard
Former Florida State runner Susan Kuijken, the 2009 NCAA 1500 champ and 2008 NCAA 3000 champ, has a new event: the 10,000. Her 10,000 debut went great as she won in 31:31.97. Not a total shock given her 15:04.36 5000 pb but a bit surprising as the runner-up was Buze Diriba, who has a 14:50 pb.
The 10k run of the night however may have been the 5th-place showing by American Emily Sisson of Providence, who ran 31:38.03, ahead of 2014 NCAA Cross champion Kate Avery (6th, 31:38.71). They both moved to the top 5 in collegiate history.
Top 7 NCAA 10,000 Times
31:18.07 Lisa Uhl (Iowa St) 03/26/10
31:25.45 Sally Kipyego’ (Texas Tech) 05/04/08
31:37.22 Betsy Saina’ (Iowa St) 04/28/13
31:38.03 Emily Sisson (Providence) 5/2/15

32:06.64 Jordan Hasay (Oregon) 04/28/13
32:07.20 Aliphine Tuliamuk-Bolton’ (Wichita St) 04/28/13
That time is also better than the 10,000 pb of Jordan Hasay (31:39.67).
