Brooks Beasts Sign Dorian Ulrey And Matt Hillenbrand

Press Release
January 27, 2015

Entering only its third year as a team, the Brooks Beasts hit the ground running by signing two athletes who deepen and strengthen its roster. Dorian Ulrey and Matt Hillenbrand today join the Beasts and contribute a number of strengths to the team’s growing middle-distance arsenal.

Dorian Ulrey, an 11-time All American and an NCAA Champion, comes to the team with professional racing experience under his belt including his 2009 appearance at the IAAF World Championships for Team USA in the 1500-meter run. He boasts personal records of 3:35.23 in the 1500-meter run and 3:55.52 in the mile, both of which will bolster the Beasts’ existing middle-distance potential and provide training support for teammates Nick Symmonds, Riley Masters, Casimir Losxsom, Garrett Heath and Mark Wieczorek.

Matt Hillenbrand, a recent graduate from the University of Kentucky, also joins the Beasts. His raw, untapped talent and versatility in events from the 800m to the 5K make him a valuable addition to the team. Matt was one of just two collegiate athletes to qualify for the men’s 1500m final at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships last year; his potential and energy will be crucial for the team as it evolves.

The addition of Dorian and Matt to the Beasts underscores the team’s growing talent pool and its larger goals of being dominant in the sport domestically and on the global stage, along with its commitment to growing the sport here in the U.S.

Matt and Dorian will begin racing this season in the Brooks Beasts’ signature Nightlife elite kit.
