Mary Keitany Outkicks Jemima Sumgong to Win New York City Marathon in 2:25:07

The men’s and women’s finishes were nearly identical at the 2014 TCS New York City Marathon as they came down to the wire.
Mary Keitany Celebrates NYC 2014
In the women’s race, twenty six miles was not enough to separate Mary Keitany, running her first marathon since childbirth, and Jemima Sumgong. Keitany was too good the final quarter mile and got the win in 2:25:07 just three seconds faster than Sumgong which tied the record for smallest margin of victory on the women’s side at New York.
