Jack Bolas (4:02.3), Heather Kampf (4:29.9) Claim Titles At Minnesota Mile

(Duluth, Minn.) Jack Bolas won today’s eighth annual Grandma’s Minnesota Mile road race in downtown Duluth. Bolas, 26, of Chapel Hill, N.C., finished in 4 minutes, 2.3 seconds and claimed the first-place prize of $3,000. Jon Peterson, of Minneapolis, placed second in 4:04.0.

Heather Kampf, 27, of Minneapolis, claimed her second Minnesota Mile women’s division title and $3,000 with a winning time of 4:29.9. Kampf also won in 2012. Sara Vaughn, of Boulder, Colo., was runner-up in 4:34.0

Both Bolas and Kampf also claimed the top spots in the inaugural Bring Back the Mile Grand Prix Tour 2014 standings and an additional $2,000. The Minnesota Mile was the last of six stops on the Tour circuit.

A total of453 people registered for the Grandma’s Minnesota Mile event which featured four separate divisions ― Minnesota Mile (Elite), Duluth Mile (Semi-Elite), All City Mile (Recreational) and the Verizon Kids Mile.
