It was a record setting day once again this morning at the 2014 RAK Half Marathon. A year after a record three men broke 59:00 in the same race, this year a record eight men broke 60:00 in a half marathon for the first time. The previous best was seven sub-60 men at the 2009 Rotterdam Half marathon.

The winner was the world’s ranked #1 marathoner from 2013, Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia who ran 59:34. Desisa, who won in Dubai and Boston last year, showed he’ll have a great chance to repeat in Boston this year as he’s in fine form.

The women’s winner was the world’s #1 ranked marathoner for women in 2013, Priscah Jeptoo (2013 NY and London winner), in 67:00. Last year, Jeptoo ran 66:11 and didn’t win.
