NJ-NY Athletes To Coach Hunterdon Lions Youth Track Club This Sprint

Bartholomew, Merber, Ross, Stowe Added As Coaches

The NJ★NY TC is pleased to announce that four of its athletes will serve as coaches for the Hunterdon Lions  Track Club (HLTC) this spring.  Wayne Bartholo mew, Kyle Merber, Cydney Ross, and Rebeka Stowe will work with the club to provide their expertise and experience as one additional benefit for the HLTC athletes.   The HLTC was created in 2005.  Over 270 youth athletes have registered for the 2014 season with 20 volunteer coaches providing support.
“It is not very often that youth athletes have the privilege of having professional athletes serve as their coaches.””We arevery excited to have the members of the NJ★NY TC on our coaching staff this year,” stated HLTC founder and head coachJim Crossin.

 

Since its creation in 2010 the NJ★NY TC has made community service and outreach initiatives an import component of team membership.  “With eight of our athletes living in the Clinton area, partnering with the HLTC makes perfect sense,” stated NJ★NY TC head coach Frank Gagliano.  “Our athletes are very excited to have this opportunity.  Each of them have a strong passion for the sport as well as engaging young athletes about living healthy active lifestyles.”

 

Highlights about the four NJ★NY TC athletes; include:
  • Bartholomew is a 2013 graduate of La Salle University where he majored in Accounting.  He has run 800m in 1:50.79.
  • Merber is a 2012 graduate of Columbia University.  His has run the 1 mile in 3:58.52 and he holds the American Collegiate Record in the 1500m (3:35.59)
  • Ross is a 2012 graduate of Duke University (major: Public Policy).  She also earned a masters degree from Duke in Management Studies.  She has personal bests of 2:02.48 (800m) and 4:39.89 (1 mile).
  • Stowe is a 2012 graduate of the University of Kansas and is working towards a masters degree in Educational Administration.  She competed in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the 3000m steeplechase and has run 16:09 for 5000m.

About the Hunterdon Lions Track Club

The Hunterdon Lions Track Club offers an introduction to the sport of track & field to boys and girls in 4th through 8th grades. Its primary aim is to expose children to the multiple disciplines of track & field, and to help them gain an appreciation for what it means to attain and maintain a level of fitness. The club strives to instill a love for athletics and a healthy lifestyle that will last a lifetime. Through the club the athletes are offered the opportunity to compete with other children of the same general age,at the local and state levels, and, subject to qualification, regional and national levels. Perhaps most importantly, the club provides a sports activity that offers fun and friendship to all ages and levels of talent.  The club is supported 20 volunteer coaches.
