Galen Rupp, Leo Manzano And Nick Willis Talk About Where They Keep Their Silver Medals

At today’s pre-meet press conference for the 2014 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, we asked Olympic silver medalist Leo Manzano, Galen Rupp and Nick Willis a very practical question. Where do they store their silver medals and do they look at them often?

The responses certainly generated a laugh or two.

Fearing burglars, Manzano revealed his is at an ‘undisclosed location’ in his house. As for Rupp, he got some of the biggest laughs of the day when he admitted he had no idea where it was in his house – his wife had put it somewhere. The wise elder statesman Willis was the only one with a proper display case. But Willis said he’s only got a display case because he learned the hard way with his original bronze medal (later upgraded to silver due to a doping DQ) as it got damaged by not being in a case.
