PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The recent addition of a $10,500 prize purse to the inaugural EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler, set for Sunday, November 3, has attracted a strong field of both established and up-and-coming American and international distance runners. The top five finishers per gender will be awarded prize money with each Open race champion taking home $2500.
The field includes four Americans who have broken 48 minutes for 10 miles: Brent Vaughn, Andrew Carlson, Ian Burrell and Jon Grey. Also,Fernando Cabada, who is the former U.S. 25K record holder and a 3-time national champion, and Jon Peterson, who recently won the Medtronic TC 10 Mile in 49:03, are entered.
“Our inaugural race has attracted a world-class field of runners,” said Patrice Matamoros, Chief Executive Officer of Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon, Inc. “This race provides another opportunity to introduce Pittsburgh to the running community. With the top talent coming to the City of Champions, spectators should expect to see exciting, head-to-head competition on Sunday.”
