BAA Teleconference With Nick Willis, Kim Smith, Ben Bruce, and Gabrielle Anderson

Today the BAA conducted a press conference on Sunday’s Invitational mile and 5k races as well as its $100,000 distance medley challenge. The press conference was moderated by 1996 Olympic steeple finalist and former American 2-mile record holder (as well as still 5k road record holder) Marc Davis. Participants included:

  •      Kim Smith:   B.A.A. 5K, returning champion of the 2012 B.A.A. Distance Medley
  •      Nick WIllis:  Silver Medalist 1500m – 2008, Invitational Mile
  •           Ben Bruce:  B.A.A. Invitational Mile, 8:19 Steeplechaser
  •          Gabrielle Anderson:  B.A.A. Invitational Mile, 4th in Olympic Trials 1500m
  •           Aaron Klein:  Senior at Brookline H.S., Scholastic Mile

Additionally, at least the following two runners were in the audience.

  •          Dejen Gebremeskel, SIlver Medalist 5000 – 2012, B.A.A. 5K
  •      Aheza Kiros, Runner-Up 2012 B.A.A. Distance Medley, B.A.A. 5K

WHY:              In preparation for Sunday’s B.A.A. 5K and Invitational Mile event, the Boston Athletic Association is holding a media press conference with notable athletes of the 5K, Scholastic and Professional Mile events.  To begin the conference, B.A.A. Executive Director Tom Grilk will discuss the success of the inaugural B.A.A. Distance Medley, and the upcoming second year of the series.  Then, there will be an introduction of and a Q&A with several 5K and Invitational Mile participants.  Finally, the floor will be open to questions moderated by B.A.A. Communications Manager, Marc Davis.
