Today Abera Kuma won the PWN Egmond Half Marathon. The young athlete from Ethiopia was able to stay in front of the Kenyan favourites Sammy Kitwara and Vincent Kipruto and surprisingly he came first at the finish in 1.01.20. Helah Kiprop from Kenya was the winner of the woman’s race. In the last hundred metres she was able to defeat Flomena Chepchirchir (1.10.55).

The PWN Egmond Half Marathon is the toughest 21.1 km in Holland because of the unpredictable weather, the sandy beach, dunes, wind and low temperatures. Therefore the Dutch runners call this event a real winter classic. Every year international top athletes come to Egmond to compete in this unique race.
