2002 LetsRun.com Marathon Program
So you are a serious runner.  You're dedicated and seemingly do it all right. You train hard for months, worry about your nutrition, get lots of sleep, but the race comes and goes and it doesn't go as well as planned.  Or perhaps it went well, but you are wondering how you can do better.

What are you missing? A coach!!!!

It amazes us that so many runners think they can get by without a coach.  Runners will spend hundreds of dollars on shoes, equipment, entry fees and travel to their races but won't spend any money on on a coach.   It just doesn't make sense.

Other individual sports are full of prominent coaches.  The greats like Pete Sampras, Tiger Woods, and Andre Agassi all need coaches, but the average runner thinks he or she doesn't.   Well let us tell you something, running is no different than any other sport. To achieve your best, you need a great coach - not a $10 book.

The LetsRun.com Marathon Training Program will solve your coaching needs.  Led by experienced national class marathoners and identical twins, Robert and Weldon Johnson (the two co-founders of LetsRun.com), under the guiding philosophy of their coach John Kellogg. the LetsRun.com Marathon Training Program will help you achieve your goals.

In case you are unfamiliar with Weldon and Robert or the the web-site LetsRun.com, we will offer you a little background.  LetsRun.com was founded by Weldon and Robert Johnson on the eve of the 2000 US Olympic Marathon Trials with the goal of increasing each visitor's enjoyment of the what they think is the world's greatest and simplest sport, running. Often, increased enjoyment results from improved performance and thus one of the primary purposes of LetsRun.com is to make everyone a better runner by spreading the coaching philosophy of our coach, John Kellogg, aka the World's Greatest Running Coach. (To read a nice feature on Robert and Weldon that appeared originally on NBCOlympics.com, click here.   For more information on the philosophy behind LetsRun.com, click here)

Weldon, a magna cum laude graduate from Yale University, is now one of the nation's top runners.  But he has not always been at the top of the sport.  He was not recruited out of high school and in college never made it to the national meet at the end of the season.  But he continued to improve because he pursued his dream, worked hard, but most importantly trained smarter than many other runners.  Now, he is one of the most accomplished road and track runners in the United States.  The winner of the 1998 Marine Corps Marathon and the 1999 Vermont City Marathon, Weldon is the holder of the nation's 4th fastest 10k time for 2001 (28:10).  He was one of the favorites for the American title at the 2001 New York City Marathon, his first marathon since finishing 25th at the 2000 US Olympic Marathon Trials.

(Want to know more about Weldon? Then you've got tons of articles to choose from.  In anticipation of his running the 2001 New York City Marathon, a feature was done on Weldon on the New York Road Runners Web-site in mid-October.  Additionally, Runnersworld.com published an interview of Weldon on October 25, 2001. Still want to learn more about Weldon? Well then click here to read his complete bio.)

Robert, a cum laude graduate of Princeton University, didn't run in college due to injuries but has made amazing strides since getting healthy and beginning serious training in 1997.  Last year, he ran a 2:23 marathon and just missed qualifying for the 2000 US Olympic Marathon Trials.  In early October, he helped pace Catherine Ndereba to her 2:18:47 world record at the Chicago Marathon and was one of the favorites for the 2001 Marine Corps Marathon title before a last-minute injury sidelined him.  Robert hopes to get healthy and continue to improve and be a factor at the 2004 US Olympic Marathon Trials.

Robert and Weldon's vast experience and knowledge can help marathoners of all abilities accomplish their goals, just as it helps them accomplish their own individual goals.  Until their last marathons (hey no one is perfect,) Weldon and Robert had set personal bests or won every marathon they had ever entered.

Their expertise can help you be the marathoner you want to be.  Interested in accomplishing your goals in the sport of running?  Then click here to learn more about the LetsRun.com Marathon Training Program.
