I hate that the professional level of track and field relies heavily on apparel sponsors, only to have NGBs strictly dictate apparel and advertising in international competition.
But this kid would not crack the top 100 in Division I for the 1500m. He is a developmental athlete. What reaction did he expect from ASICS and his governing body?
I would feel more sorry for him if he were an actual professional with a contract with another company; not a lower level national athlete getting free gear and competing on the state's dime.
This is not a 3:37 runner upset about his governing body hampering his livelihood; it's a spoiled kid unhappy with his free SWAG.
The point of this is to moreso be shocked at Ukrainian federation for banning someone for 6 months for this. Nobody cares about your belittlement of an athlete that’s not fast enough to be relevant. Him being a 3:46 athlete or a 3:40 athlete is frankly irrelevant. Him being banned is shockingly stupid, that’s what’s this is about. This dude is probably better than you at running by a long shot anyways.
