The article shows how she and the New York Times live in this sort of parallel universe where you don’t have to actually do anything to be considered important , you just have to have the right labels attached to yourself . Every article about her throws out the same labels : “ Ivy League graduate; Oregon Duck runner; Olympic Athlete ; film maker; roll model to young girls.” It doesn’t matter that her writing style is that of a 7th grader, she never really accomplished much as a runner , her film was a joke or that there probably aren’t any girls holding her up as a roll model, having the labels is enough for the New York Times.
