...sort of.
I'm 6 foot 1 and was wondering if my cadence of 160-164 on easy runs (8:00-8:30 mile pace) is too slow. I want to know if other, taller runners out there have a slower cadence and whether there is data on what easy runs are like at that pace for tall elite runners.
Seems there is conflicting advice from John Kellog advocating that you keep cadence from being sloppy (I don't know whether that means at least 160 or 170 for my height) on easy days to videos of Kenyan elites coasting along at a very low cadence.
I've really worked on my form over the past two years and feel it has made a big difference in my speed, endurance and injury prevention so I'm keen to know if this is a final piece of the puzzle to optimise my easy runs. It seems important as most of our mileage is at easy pace so practising that in a non optimal way is preventing getting the best out of that time. (Thinking as a musician who tries to always play with great technique at whatever speed).
