RE: The elites clothing choices in Boston perplexed me
I have visited Letsrun.com more or less daily for years, and this is in my view the most interesting thread I have ever read on the site. Really a fascinating discussion that sheds a lot of light on the problems of racing in cold + wind + rain. But the thread raises as many questions as it answers. (E.g what about gore-tex running shoes?) How is it that so many fine, professional runners so thoroughly bonked? I think that a study is warranted (if not out there somewhere already) that looks scientifically at how cycling, cross-country skiing, and mountaineering handle similar conditions and provides reasoned suggestions and parameters for the runners’ optimal approach? I hope Letsrun.com will promote further an article or forum devoted to this issue.
