It looked like Kirui and the other guys rockin the white jackets were also wearing what appeared to be disposable surgical gloves. I gotta be wrong about that, right?
I hope they didn’t blank on gloves and then procure some last minute from the medical staff...

Disposable surgical gloves....waterproof and windproof.

I didn't see if they had gloves on underneath them, but surgical gloves over other gloves would keep the other gloves dry. Dry other gloves = warm hands.

Waterproof for sure...I guess windproof but having never run in them, seems like they would not keep the hands warm at all, plus the hands would start to get clammy underneath.
Anyone else have any input on this? I’ve rocked neoprene socks on top of thin ankle socks with success in wet, cold races. Never considered a plastic bag/surgical gloves on the hands.

I would have to imagine the hands being clammy, and everything being soggy inside of the surgical gloves. I hate that feeling on my hands, and there is no way I could run like that for 13.1 miles ( I do up to half marathon) in extremely cold, wet weather.

I noticed another thing about Desi's equipment. She wore athletic mittens, so her hands were close together, allowing the hands to stay warm. Everyone else was wearing gloves.

Smart girl. She ran smart and dressed Smart.
