RE: The elites clothing choices in Boston perplexed me
As a XC skier, I'm constantly surprised at how poorly some people dress in the cold.

Elite XC skier and bikers all know that cold muscles are ineffective muscles. If you get done with a cold run and your skin is red, your muscle were cold and not operating effectively. Cold muscles are stressed muscles.

Everyone is also so worried about being too warm and having too much clothing on, trust me, it's not really something you should be concerned about.

Have you ever heard of a sprinter preferring cold weather? No! You never have. That's because sprinters know that their performance and chance of injury increases when the muscles get cold.

Here is a whole podcast talking about how elite cyclist stay warm and why they do so.

IMO: Everyone (even Kawauchi) would have ran better and more comfortably in a windproof shell and tights yesterday.
