Companies have no inherent desire to get people to live in cities. If labor in urban areas demanded higher pay without being more productive, companies just wouldn't hire them at all and they'd pick a different place to operate. I think you'll find that there is no great rush of NYC firms to move headquarters to Montana in search of these mythical wildly productive rural individuals.
