For those who haven't seen this on Flotrack, I would encourage you to go check out at least the first few minutes.
When are we as coaches going to sit down and decide on some roster limits?! This video is frustrating. The workout looks like the start of a marathon with crowds of guys funneling through the start. It's no wonder they are so good every year! They have 5 separate teams! Do we really need xc rosters of 50?? Are we such bad coaches that we can't field a 7 man team from a roster of 20?
It feels like the top teams in the NCAA win by either:
a) burning through massive amounts of bodies, like BYU here clearly is doing
b) recruit foreign athletes/mercenaries
NAU under Heins was one of the most amazing, respectable things I've seen. They won NCAAs, as a mid-major, with a FULL track team that would clean up at their conference meet indoor and outdoor!
I don't understand why you'd say this bs, like there's just no good reason at all why these kids who for almost all of them will never run professionally or at this level ever again shouldn't get the chance if they are there and working hard.
It sounds like you're jealous you couldn't run like they can because you weren't good enough
