Kids at that age love their routine. You can get them used to just about anything if you make it part of the daily routine (my daughter asks if I'm going to drop her off at daycare on the weekends. Um, no). I'd give it a bit more time.

As to what's natural and unnatural - just about every child raising practice has been typical at some point in time. It wasn't all that long ago that fathers were completely uninvolved with their child's upbringing. Wealthy families would employ nurses (even wet-nurses) and barely even see their children. Glasses, AC, and penicillin are all unnatural and I think that's just fine.

Give it a bit more time. If it's not working out then try something else, but there is a good chance that in a week or so you'll drop your daughter off and she'll run to the teacher or start playing and not even notice you.
