RE: 13 year old girl runs 50 mile Ultramarathon!!!! wrote:

Funny, everybody is so quick to throw out negative comments. The truth is, none of you know the long term effects so shut it! I'm sure there's a right and a wrong way to train for 50 miles just as there is for a 5k.

The ones with the negative comments are the ones with the fat, yes "FAT" kids who are sitting at home ruining their bodies and brains on video games. The fact is, 50 mpw isn't too much for most "healthy" kids to handle. Good for her and her parents. She'll probably lead a much healthier lifestyle from now on as she has the knowledge how to eat right and exercise. No wonder our country is going down the tubes. Can't anybody say anything positive anymore? What the hell is wrong with people these days?

Oh yeah, I'm writing this 1 day after my 13 year old son ran his first 50 mile ultra. Guess what... He did it in a foot of snow and in 8 degree weather! Yeah I know - what a horrible parent I must be. I should be crucified for teaching him the proper way to eat, train and run. Did I mention that not only was he injury free after but, he never even had 1 blister. Out of the 60 starters he finished 35th. Oh... And he's going to school tomorrow. Like I said, there's a right way to train and a wrong way to train. I may not be an expert but, my kid did it. Now stop being so God Damn negative!
