As a fan of the sport I am less interested in her racing schedule and training schedule being fair for other high schoolers and more interested in her development as a runner. Don't we want to see more Americans compete at the international level? Well guess what? This is what it takes. It takes an above average commitment from a young age if you are going to compete on the world's stage. I'm not saying this process is for everyone. I understand the need for being a part of your high school team and growing socially in that setting. I believe that 99.9% of runners would benefit in the high school and college systems, but for the Mary Cain's of the world, I feel it is time for her to go pro now!
