Body: Suleiman Nyambui won four consecutive 10000m titles and three 5000m outdoor titles. I am too lazy to look up his times each year, but in 1979 he ran 28:01 I believe. Yes, here it is ... NCAA Meet: M 28:01.30 6/1/1979 Suleiman Nyambui, Texas-El NCAA Meet record. OK, I found the times ... 79 10k 28:01.30 80 10k 29:21 5k 13:44.43 81 10k 28:34 5k 13:38.2 82 10k 29:03.54 5k 13:54.90 So the '79 race was the NCAA record but no 5k title that year. Gidamis Shahanga ran a similar double in 83:29:10/13:54 and Michael Musyoki won just the 10k in 1978 in 28:30.91. So one school won the 10,000m from 78-83 and set the NCAA Meet Record in the timeframe with three different guys. I would say that Nyambui's '81 performance is close to Levins', and I don't know where the meet was. but It looks like Levins' is best. Somebody more ambitious than me should look up to see if anybody else (like the WSU stars) has come close. Hit the submit button below if you want us to review the post.
