3 lbs in an hour in 80 deg is not off the charts. The science of sport blog had a good post on hydration before Boston. In short, the focus should be drinking to thirst and not a one to one fluid replacement strategy.

If you have trouble on hot runs, make sure you are gettIng enough electrolytes between runs. Chances are that you had trouble after an hour of running because you started out low on electrolytes and fluids. A dietician can help you get more salt, potassium etc into your system before runs without having stomachs troubles.

I will have to be more diligent with pre workout nutrition. I rarely drink enough water during the day--and probably way too much caffeine (tea usually). I was probably going too fast early also. I felt great at first and the last 2 miles were getting really bad. Glad it wasn't a race![/quote]

Sounds like that maybe you just are fully acclimated to the heat yet. Pretty common at this early point of the summer. Just keep at it and make a point to stay hydrated but remember that you will lose a lot of water when running.

I really have to be diligent about drinking less coffee in the morning and taking in more water.
