Subject: RE: Honor Student Jailed for Truancy: She has 2 jobs, 1 is fulltime
Body:

It's purely about money for the attendance of students in the school systems. In Texas a student can drop out of school at the age of 18, but if they begin that year they must finish. The ISDs. (Independent School Districts) are all over truancy. Even if it is an example such as this. Each ISD has a truancy head who rarely, if ever, is open to "exceptions" For example, my daughter is a diabetic, and her fifth period teacher doesnt allow her to check her blood sugar in class. My daughter has to leave class, go to the Nurses Office to check her blood sugar. (the school has given her an open nurses pass) Once my daughter leaves the class, she is then marked absent by this teacher. So now she has too many absences in that class, even though she's only missed 5 days of school this year. We will also now have to go to court to answer to a truancy judge and explain the situation. In this case, I may wind up going to jail or fined!
