a valid analogy: I come from a country (uruguay) with only 3 million people but more silverware in soccer than Brazil or any other country around (google for it of don't believe). There is one thing that is always underestimated: THE CULTURE OF THE SPORT. Jamaica is the most track-crazy nation on earth, just as East Africans, or Japanese for that matter, are for long distance running so they punch WAY ABOVE their weight if you look at the cold numbers of inhabitants/resources/etc... That you live in a country that feels and breaths and lives for your sport really maximizes the chances that you will succeed.
That Bold & Blake coincide in the same moment of time and place in the history of humankind, is it too much of a coincidence? Well, I don't know... perhaps in the last two hundred years there were 389 as talented Jamaicans but they are the only two that found the right conditions to develop to where they are... Jamaica has only been independent for 50 or 60 years I think... probably the resources for training top talent are also around for even less than that. The guys are for sure in the tail of the distribution, but maybe in 50 years we'll realize they were not so amazing as we now believe them to be?
Sure, because your country always win the World Cup.
