Yes. In an otherwise physically healthy individual, my presumption is that a suicide attempt (that was eventually successful) is a sign of a mental-health problem.

I could be wrong about that, but from comments made by her fellow/sister students it's pretty clear that there were "issues" that others recognized but did not do much (or at least: as much as they would have liked, in retrospect) to act upon.

It's terribly sad. She was only 19.
