I'd say chances are pretty good. Despite your not remembering hearing a thing from guys with nearly as good times in HS, it has nothing to do with their being too fast in HS.

I'll give you three names you should instantly recognize that have run under 45.70 in HS during the past decade: Jeremy Wariner, Lashawn Merritt, and Xavier Carter. Two of those three are Olympians and all three went well under 45.

As for the other three high schoolers that have run under 45.70 this past decade: Tavarius Tate has run 44.84, Bryshon Nellum hasn't gone under (but he got shot, so it should be understandable that he hasn't gone under), and Kelly Willie has run 44.63.
