Body:

Ignore him or race him. You did neither

Unless I was training with a group I never let anyone beat me in training in my local area when I was younger. Its not going to kill you to up the pace a bit but if you want to run easy just let them go don't cry about it

I one had some guy with a heart rate monitor after me beep... beep.... beep. That pissed me off so I upped the pace. Put a fast 200m in and most people give up. But he was still there after another 200m beep beep and I was struggling he had me. Suddenly his monitor goescrazy beepbeepbeepbeep and he gave up. Even though he could have beat me that did for him!

A few years (well about 7!) back I was doing hill reps in a local park. A group of lads aged 14/16 were hanging round a bench looking a bit like yobs and one joins in after a few reps. I thought here we go taking the mick, but he was going for it. Anyway I beat him then his mate. On the final one they brought out their star athlete. I could see he was good so went for it up the hill. The rep finished with a flat 100m and he did me on the sprint by a yard. Turns out he was Mo Farah's cousin (this was before anyone heard of him). He went of waving off victoriously to his mates, but I was pleased myself giving away over 20yrs and running him close. They were all great kids
