If you aren't going for album quality stuff, then go with the pc. Why do you think PCs suck? Because Windows 7 is actually a pretty stable operating system, and its not like Macs dont have their issues as well.

My opinion is that if you are on a budget and are just starting out, then go with the PC. There are a ton of programs you can experiment with and you can get a decent computer for a lot less money.
