Body: Both During base, emphasize your weakness while maintaining your strength. During the season, emphasize your strength while doing enough to maintain in your area of weakness. For a speedy 800 guy (sounds like you are a 400/800 guy), aerobic conditioning doesn't always mean you need to go out and run long slow miles. My 400/800 guys the last couple of years have been doing lots of tempo intervals, circuit training, and short reps with short rest as a method of developing aerobic strength.
